Vision

St Andrews mission and vision

   Our mission

“Knowing God’s love in Jesus through the Holy Spirit caring for and sharing life with one another and all people”

If Christianity is boring, then it is being done wrong

Authentic Christianity is systematically risky business, it is divinely dangerous and outrageously adventerous, but yet completely safe.

At St Andrews Baptist Church we believe that being a Christian is about being real, radical, relavant and refreshing

We hold close to our hearts the five core values of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, which carefully placed comes with the acronim WIMPS

But Christ reminds us that his strength is made perfect in our weakness

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Baptist Union of Great Britain 5 core values

We aim to be A Worshipping Community

Following Jesus in engaging in worship and prayer which inspire and undergird all we are and do. Exploring and expressing what it means to live together as the people of God, obeying his Word and following Christ in the whole of daily life.

We aim to be An Inclusive Community

Following Jesus in transcending barriers of gender, language, race, class, age and culture.  Identifying with those who are rejected, deprived and powerless.

We aim to be A Missionary Community

Following Jesus in demonstrating in word and action God's forgiving and healing love. Calling and enabling people to experience the love of God for themselves.

We aim to be A Prophetic Community

Following Jesus in Confronting evil, injustice and hypocrisy. Challenging worldly concepts of power, wealth, status and security.

We aim to be A Sacrifical Community

Following Jesus in accepting vulnerability and the necessity of sacrifice. Seeking to reflect the generous, life-giving nature of God.
