Funerals

Firstly, If you have recently lost someone, our condolences and prayers will be with you. At St Andrews Baptist Church, we are well aware that every family from time to time experiences the trauma of bereavement. Our minister, along with our office team are always available to help plan and conduct a funeral or thanksgiving service. Our minister is also there to pastorally stand with those experiencing the loss of a loved one.

How do we arrange a funeral?
We can be part of the funeral preparations and support as much as you would like us to be. Generally, most people will use the services of a funeral director who will be able to provide advice and organise all the practical arrangements.

If you would like our minister and/or St Andrews Baptist Church to be included in the funeral, please inform your chosen funeral director who will be able to liaise with us.

The loved one who has died may have left details of the sort of funeral that they had hoped for. Our minister will want to support families in keeping to such arrangements as much as possible and in making the service a personal and appropriate occasion. Taking funerals is an important part of the church's work and our ministers will take time to visit families, offering comfort and support before and after the funeral itself.  We also hold a yearly memorial service for the family members of the loved ones our minister has held services for.

Burials and Cremations
St Andrews Baptist Church does not have any burial grounds, therefore burials usually take place at one of the local cemeteries.  Approximately three-quarters of funerals that take place today are cremations, our minister is able to conduct the entire service at the crematorium, however, St Andrews Baptist Church is also available for a church service.

If cremation is desired, this leaves the question of what to do with the ashes? Our minister is willing to provide a short internment of ashes service at your chosen location. If it is desired for the ashes to be spread at St Andrews Baptist Church, please speak to our minister.
